Fast detection key to save lives
2007-05-30

BRE the british research, consultancy, training, testing and certification organization has published a report concerning sprinkler effectiveness in care homes. The report shows what happens when a fire starts in the bed of someone who is unable to get out of it. Tests show that even a fully functioning sprinkler system is not enough to save the person's life, the reason being that a traditional sprinkler system is activated with a glass bulb which makes it too slow. However, the tests also show that if a smoke detector is used to activate the fire suppression system, the person has a very good chance of survival.

All this isn't really news to us at Q-Fog, we've been using electronic detectors since our very first system, albeit more advanced than the detector used in the test mentioned above.
